Feel free to ask questions and I'll respond here
I just finished taping an interview with CBC radio in the Yukon Territory. Thank you!
I was asked to share advice on how to win scholarships. One of the best ways is to get to know your neighbors. I mean that literally and figuratively. The people around you must know of your plans to go to college or they won't be able to help you, advocate for you, and connect you with resources. Why would they do this? Because there are adults all around you that want to see you succeed and they are willing to pass along the name of scholarships or let you know of new opportunities. They can't do that if they don't know you.
Despite the overload of information on the Internet, many opportunities are still promoted through word of mouth or on bulletins board at the grocery store or in the guidance department at your school. Before searching countless hours on the World Wide Web, try your own community first.
If you heard about a scholarship awards banquet, write down the name of it so you can do a little research. If you review past school newsletters or graduation bulletins you might also catch the names of lesser-known but valuable scholarship opportunities. Don't overlook these opportunities!
Good luck!
